Streameet! Documentation
simplicity, innovation, connection

Our goal : answer to a need

The application is the result of a simple observation: the service we offer does not exist yet.

We started our reasoning from another point though : trying to find how could we change musicians road trip experiences through artificial intelligence ? A question that is the consequence of an observation that places touring musicians as lonely. So we first had designed a program that was essentially for musicians.

Then, we did a test phase that allowed us to notice everything that was missing and what users really wanted as an application: every single tester, musician or not, wanted the app to be usable by everyone. That's why our team's strategy changed and operate to the largest public around music : we called them the music lovers. In addition some articles inspired us to connect users with pubs that organise events with music.

Our application includes all the strengths of the most effcient and/or innovative applications such as Google map, Citymapper or Snapchat.

Streameet does not need any special additional technology (VR etc.), the key words are simplicity, innovation, connection.

Context

In 2019, a group of french student wanted to create an app allowing to musicians doing road trips to connect their music library in order to find people, places and music structures along their way when touring. The purpose of the app was to fight against loneliness during musicians road trips and create rare, unique sharing moment.

Actually, we understood that Streameet had to be more important and reviewed our ambitions higher. Streameet can also help all music lovers who want to share the music they love with others. But it can also solve another issue: help musicians who would like to find some places to play music, like for instance some bars. In other terms and to conclude, Streameet want itself to be the number 1 meeting app based on music.

Target

As previously mentioned, the application was first created only for professional musicians (Jazzmen , rockers , Djs…) who wanted to meet other musicians or people who share the same musical taste.

Different possibilities are available :
- Amateur and professional musicians can communicate together or find places where to play by asking a request to this particular place (bar, concert room, restaurant etc..)
- Regular users, our “Music Lovers” can connect and interact with whoever share the same preferences. To sum up, our app is destinated to : amateur & professional musicians, music lovers and any owner of a place that is linked to a musical activity (bar, pub, studio, restaurant, concert room etc…)

Despite the fact that this application is intended for a fairly young audience, streameet is obviously destined to anyone and is usable by any music fan from 0 to 99 years old. But the main target of users is the 18-25 age range.

Last aspect of the app : it has the intention to help less-listened type of music lovers to meet each other. For example, disco music is not as popular as it was few years ago so it may be difficult to meet other people who like this music nowadays. That’s also why Streameet is here : give the opportunity to people for whom it’s not necessarly easy to to find other fans of their favorite type of music to meet thanks to our app.

Streameet has followed a broader guideline by broadening its scope to include all music fans with different universes.

Your user experience

Let's imagine you are a user of Streameet.

First, you have to connect your Streameet account with your music platform.

Then, if you are a traveler, you have to indicate your destination or location. And when it's over, you will have a few propositions of other users who have the same musical tastes, and you will know where they are in order to find the perfect meeting. For instance, the user can meet Lia, a jazz lover who is at 2km (check the video down bellow).

Yet, if you are a musician, you have others possibilities with Streameet. Streameet can find for you a place to play your music, depending on where you are and what kind of music you play. You will know what are the perfect places to play your music, and how far away they are. For example, our user may play at a jazz studio in LA or in a music lover bar.

How to implement the project

Google Maps API tutorial.

This type of scan treats every folder it goes through and every file in all of the folders like they've changed since the last scan which of course means, everything will get updated to the current version. The most important thing here is, your statistics (like rating or playcount) will be preserved. The full collection rescan goes through all your library roots and all of their subfolders. Obviously this might take some time, especially when your library is huge but still we'd recommend doing a full rescan every now and then.

Google Maps API tutorial.

This explains how to link our app with google maps in order to implement the location feature in our ap. How to build a teachable machine. This can help to create the Artificial Intelligence in the matching process on our app.

Matching profils.

A service that helps you creating your own matching algorithm. You could use this to build the profile matching algorithm in our app.

What we expect from our developers

  • Help us to develop an interactive map that will help our users to get in touch.
  • To link our app with all the places or activities that correspond to their musical library : this is probably the most technical aspect.
  • To solve all the informatic constraints that will exist to help us to elaborate a clear, simple and easy to use application.

  • Benchmark

  • As any kinds of art or activities, music needs to be part of particular places. Pubs are one of them. They offer people the possibility to spend a night together around a musical theme they like. Pubs that invite bands to play for them during a night are more and more popular . Some of them exist just to do that : we can think about jazz bars. This article inspired us because this is typically the kind of places that we would like to have as partners. If you want to know more check this article explaining Why there’s no substitute for live music at your restaurant or bara.

  • “Music has created friendships with people who I thought I’d have nothing in common with and strengthened connections with people who would later become my closest pals.” Here is the leading sentence of this 2019’s blog article. It says it all. Want to continue to read ? You know what to do. Streameet already did.

  • Why music is so important for the development of our lives. Here is a ted talk that describes the benefits of music for Mankind. You want to know why Bob Marley was convinced that music is synonymous with peace. You want to know why Ray Charles, was so inspired during his life ? Watch the following video. And never forget : the reasons why this legends were so inspired by music are the same reasons we want to develop Streameet.

  • The musician, a lonely poet who needs others for his or her inspiration. Why does the musician so ambiguous ? Sometimes he has to be alone to release his emotions and create over them, sometimes he has to play in a group, hear notes he is not used to playing, create an environment with the other and where the tempo of the music will be king, the same way music is king for our app. A brilliant inspiring article.
